The role of the barrier filter is to block any reflected excitation light and transmit only the fluorescence from the subject. The barrier filter is positioned in front of the viewing device, whether that is your eye or any kind of camera - film, digital, or video. The photographs below show what the barrier filter does.

The NightSea barrier filters are available in either glass or plastic. The glass barrier filters are typically provided in standard photographic filter mounts. With plastic we can provide the filter material in a very wide range of shapes and sizes. We can also add holes to aid in attaching custom filter sizes to your equipment, or you can drill and shape the material yourself. For custom cuts the price depends on the size of the filter requested, and the complexity of any machining we need to do.
